TiVo to Acquire MobiTV Assets from Chapter 11 Bankruptcy to Solidify Position in IPTV Pay-TV Market

US-based entertainment-focussed technology company TiVo Corp. has emerged as the successful bidder for the acquisition of the assets of IP video delivery provider MobiTV, the company said.

The acquisition will expand TiVo's addressable market for IPTV solutions in the North American MSO and telecom operator market.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Assets of MobiTV were purchased from a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, and include a full TV platform, including live and on-demand content, network recording functionality and transport rights.

The MobiTV solution provides an extension of TiVo's IPTV Pay-TV service offerings by adding managed services with the ability to reduce deployment time and onboarding costs.

MobiTV will help increase TiVo's IPTV penetration with US Pay-TV operators enabling them to rapidly launch a branded, fully featured, app-based Pay-TV service.

The acquisition includes MobiTV's patent portfolio, which is highly complementary to Xperi's existing media patent portfolio.

MobiTV Xperi, an application-based Pay TV video delivery solutions provider, is the wholly owned subsidiary of Xperi Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: XPER).
