Russian tycoon Dmitry Rybolovlev, major shareholder of potash fertiliser maker Uralkali (MCX:URKA), is seeking buyers for his controlling stake in the company, business daily Kommersant wrote today, citing sources in the know.
The country´s 10th richest man is negotiating with other Russian billionaires to offload the stake at a price above its current market value, the daily said.
Among the potential buyers are Polyus Gold (MCX:PLZL) owners Suleiman Kerimov and Mikhail Prokhorov, Russia´s wealthiest man Vladimir Lisin as well as Vladimir Evtushenkov, the main owner of conglomerate Sistema (MCX:AFKC), and Vladimir Potanin, a shareholder in Norilsk Nickel (LON:MNOD), a source told Kommersant.
Kerimov and Potanin are believed to be the most likely buyers of the shares though Potanin´s investment vehicle Interros dismissed plans for acquiring Uralkali. Prokhrov´s representative, in turn, said talks over a potential deal have ended.
